Spring Has Sprung – Can you believe it?
Would you like to take a break from the drudgery of spring cleaning? In Lake Arrowhead, spring means a whole lot more than tackling baseboards and vacuuming behind appliances. While it may be difficult to believe, and hard to accept for snow-lovers, winter is quickly moving into our collective rearview mirrors. In fact, the first day of spring is March 20, 2018. With flowers in bloom, birds singing, and bees buzzing on the hill, you don’t have to look at a calendar to recognize that spring has sprung in Lake Arrowhead. But check out this calendar of events to take advantage of on your March Arrowhead vacation.
A few of Spring Signs you would be hard pressed to miss:
Temperatures
While we’ve seen a few storms of late, it’s not too early to start thinking about Easter, daffodils, dogwoods and baby woodland animals. Hiking trails have been cleaned and cleared.
Boating
One of the good things about the light winter is that it has ushered in an early season for boating. If you don’t have your boat on the lake yet, it’s time to get it back on the water. And if you don’t own a boat and plan to visit during boating season, think about taking lessons at the McKenzie Water Ski School or riding on the Arrowhead Queen, which is something everyone in the Arrowhead area can enjoy. Visit the school to sign up for wakeboard or waterski lessons or for a boat ride. Private boat charters are also offered daily. The ski school boats seat up to five passengers. So, you and your family and friends can sail around enjoying points of interest. The school also accepts reservations for sunset cruises.
Easter
Early this year, April 1, churches of various denominations across the mountain will gather to celebrate Christ’s resurrection. And community worshippers will come together for a sunrise service, beachside, at the resort.
The annual Easter Egg Hunt at Lake Arrowhead Village will be held the day before Easter, on Saturday, March 31. Beginning at 12:30 p.m. on the grass near Center Stage, each egg hunt is divided into age groups, so make sure you and your kids arrive on time for their category:
12:30 p.m. Infant – 2 years
12:45 p.m. 3-5 Years
1:00 p.m. 6 – 7 Years
1:15 p.m. 8 – 10 Years
Easter Activities include:
- Free face-painting
- Selfies with the Easter Bunny near Center Stage from noon to 4 p.m.
- 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free Face Painting
- Great dining and shopping
- Lots of family-friendly things to do in Lake Arrowhead Village.
- The Village is the perfect spot to buy stuffed animals and toys for kids as well as Easter wear for people of all ages.
Spring Break
The Rim of the World School District will celebrate Spring Break the first week of April.
St. Patrick’s Day
On March 17, everyone is Irish. What began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland has emerged as an international festival featuring parades, dancing, special food and drinks and a whole lot of green. As you make plans to celebrate, consider heading up the hill—because Lake Arrowhead Village is a great St. Patrick’s Day destination! Area restaurants and bars offer spectacular St. Paddy’s Day specials throughout the entire month of March.
