In most Southern California cities, temperatures remain in the 80’s, 90’s and 100’s. So, it’s hard for most people to wrap their heads around the concept that fall has begun. Not so in Lake Arrowhead – where residents and visitors enjoy autumn leaves, cool temps and lots of fun fall activities.
There’s lots to do in Lake Arrowhead in September
43rd Annual Home Tour Friday, Sept. 15 and 16
The 2017’s Home Tour theme is ‘See How We Live.’ The Home Tour chairperson says, “Each (home on the tour) is uniquely different. More than the ordinary walk-through, you’ll see up-close unique architecture, interior design, art, masonry, landscaping and spectacular views that reveal the natural beauty of Lake Arrowhead living.”
Homes on the mountain were not cookie cutter, master-planned communities. Instead, Lake Arrowhead evolved organically from its seeds as a logging community in the late 1800s. Eventually, quaint cabins nestled in the mountains lured people from city life, offering the perfect for Hollywood elite who were looking for a peaceful getaway.
The Home Tour will open a picturesque window into the history, craftsmanship and artistic interpretations of one-of-a-kind homes. To add to the excitement of this year’s weekend event, VIP attendees will be able to attend a special reception at the historic Tudor House on Saturday, Sept. 16 between noon and 5 p.m.
Wine in a Home Tour souvenir glass and appetizers will be served at the 1930’s establishment, which is infamous because of its glamorous association with notorious mobsters. For more details and pricing, check out the Lake Arrowhead Chamber of Commerce website.
Arrowhead Goes Wild
Enter the world of ‘wild things’ at Wildhaven Ranch Animal Sanctuary! Take a breath of fresh air, and walk through this quaint mountain sanctuary, and meet Animal Beings that reflect the beauty of the forest. Follow the footprints through the Ranch of bobcat, deer, raccoon, coyote, eagles and bear, and meet our Animal Ambassadors. For information about this year’s gala, contact Wildhaven Ranch.
Oktoberfest
Sept. 16-Oct 29
A combination of German tradition and good old American silliness is the Pieter Meister, who emcees Lake Arrowhead Oktoberfest. The energetic, entertaining Meister was trained in the beer factories of Germany and raised on the streets of California. Whether you want to try your hand at the beer-holding contest, or participate in the Chicken Dance, compete in the beer chug or sausage contest, or just sit back and enjoy fine European entertainment while you drink beer and enjoy fine German food, make sure you include Lake Arrowhead’s Oktoberfest in your September (and October) weekend plans!
