Media consistently includes Lake Arrowhead as a Top Fall Vacation Destination

fall leavesMajor metropolitan news outlets have long recognized the Lake Arrowhead area as a top travel destination. And this is never more the case than during the fall. An Orange County Register reporterwrote this about autumn in Southern California:

“Fall doesn’t arrive in a flurry of autumn leaves and chilly temperatures. The seasonal shift is more subtle. It comes in little things, like street-corner pumpkin patches and empty parking spaces at the beach. In the land of perpetual sunshine, you could miss the season altogether if you don’t pay attention. Around here, if you want to find fall, you have to look for it.”

The good news is you need not go far if you’re looking for fall. Just head up the hill on Highway 18 or Hwy 330 and head to the #LakeArrowhead area. Admittedly, #vacationing in Lake Arrowhead is not like flying to the East Coast to see the changing of the leaves.

Nevertheless, our fall foliage is beautiful. Each autumn, nature puts on a brilliant show of color in the San Bernardino Mountains that boasts bright yellows, warm oranges and vibrant reds.

At the same time other chemical changes may occur, which form additional colors through the development of red anthocyanin pigments.”

Unless you’re a scientist, you might not care about the technical reasons that leaves change colors. But if you appreciate beauty, don’t skip autumn in Lake Arrowhead. Anyone who lives in Southern California and wants to witness the changing of the leaves in New York has to drive cross country or fly from one coast to the other. This type of adventure is great, if you have the luxuries of time and money. But if an affordable fall escape is what you seek, Lake Arrowhead will fill the bill.

falling leavesCBS News has this to say about Lake Arrowhead as a fall vacation-destination:

“Cottonwoods turn to gold in the woods surrounding Lake Arrowhead and its campgrounds. Atop one of the peaks of the San Bernardino National Forest, the clean air and blue sky make you feel far from any city. Autumn is an in-between season for outdoor sports such as water-skiing, speed-boating and snowboarding, so it’s the perfect time to casually enjoy the sights for a weekend getaway.”

The Los Angeles Times writer Steve Caloca points to the California Fall Color Website, which describes Lake Arrowhead in autumn like this: “Enjoy a brightening of fall color around Lake Arrowhead.

fall leafLake Arrowhead was even named by USA Today travel writer Joanne DiBona as one of “10 Best” travel destinations in Southern California, “Lake Arrowhead is decked out for fall…welcoming visitors to its charming shops, restaurants and cafes. Accommodations run the gambit from 5-star resort to vacation home rentals and time shares to rustic bed & breakfast properties.”
